Biorenewables Development Centre Capital Grants Scheme.
The scheme was launched on the 5th February 2014 and aims to assist Yorkshire (excl. South Yorkshire) and Humber SMEs looking to explore the commercial feasibility of bio-based projects.
In addition to our existing funded consultancy, the grant scheme now also enables us to provide capital for regional SMEs to invest in technologies to convert plants, microbes and biowastes into profitable green products. This presents a great opportunity for the region’s SMEs to grow and supports them to drive the bioeconomy.
More information is available on our website, but in the meantime, here are some of the key figures about this new ERDF-funded opportunity:
- The scheme provides 64% of the funding towards the purchase of capital equipment, with the additional 36% to be matched privately by the SME.
- Applications should be made for capital costs between £20,000 and £50,000 – this means SMEs can receive between £12,800 and £32,000 from the scheme.
- The scheme will be rolled out over a number of calls in 2014, with the first open as of Wednesday, 5 February.
o Deadline for expressions of interest for call 1 is 3 March 2014.
- The scheme is competitive and is expected to fund around 26 projects in 2014 with a combined project value of £1M.
