Wednesday 7th July AGENDA
Wednesday 6th October
Responsible Care is the international chemical industry's commitment to continual improvement in all aspects of health, safety and environmental (HS&E) performance. Only through open communication can the industry earn the public trust and confidence to maintain its licence to operate safely, profitably and with due care for the interests of future generations.
In the United Kingdom this rigorous, voluntary programme is led by the Chemical Industries Association but open to companies outside the trade association, especially "chemistry-users".
Responsible Care Cells (RCC) bring local companies together regularly to discuss emergency response, community liaison and industry reputation issues. There are currently 17 local Responsible Care Cells, of which West Yorkshire is on of the more active.
The purpose of the cell is;
To share experience, concerns and best practice on all aspects of health, safety and environmental management
To discuss appropriate local industry reputation and community issues (with shared action where necessary to improve the reputation of the industry at the local level)
To highlight local enforcement inconsistencies and to discuss them with HSE and Environment Agency
To provide an effective forum for guests, such as HSE and Environment Agency and local environmental organisations to engage in "off-site" dialogue on regulatory matters.
