Postgraduate Certificate in REACH Management

REACH Management – what you need to plan for successful compliance

The Challenge

The new European Chemicals Regulation REACH (The Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation of Chemicals) went through its second reading in the European Parliament on 13 December 2006 and came into force on 1 June 2007. This will have an impact on not only chemical manufacturers but also chemical users, distributors and importers across the whole of the European Union. You cannot afford to ignore it!

If you want to ensure that the regulation has minimal effect on your business and that the costs of compliance are kept to a minimum, then you need to consider a new and unique course being run by the Environmental Technologies Centre of Industrial Collaboration (ETCIC) and the Faculty of Science based at the University of Hull. The course has been driven by industry needs and developed in collaboration with Yorkshire Chemical Focus (YCF), Humber Chemical Focus (HCF), the LGC, REACHReady and the Regional Development Agency, Yorkshire Forward.

The Solution

The Postgraduate Certificate in REACH Management will involve four one week modules plus an industrial placement and will be delivered by leading experts in the various disciplines encompassed by the new legislation. The taught modules are:

  • Module 1 – The Regulatory Framework and Project Management
  • Module 2 - Testing and Data Analysis for Hazard Assessment
  • Module 3 - Exposure and Environmental Risk Assessment
  • Module 4 - Legal Issues, Authorisation and Business Preparation

The Costs

  • Full Course - £4000
  • Individual Modules - £1200
  • Individual Days - £300
  • Being classed as an educational course, no element attracts VAT

Timing

The first full course commenced on Monday June 4th, precisely when the legislation came into force. The next cycle is scheduled for Monday September 10th. It will be repeated at further intervals throughout 2008.
